\nLa pochette d’ \u00ab\u00a0Into the Light\u00a0\u00bb est lumineuse \u00e0 sa fa\u00e7on, tout en contraste g\u00e9om\u00e9trique noir et jaune. Abstraite, mais avec une belle perspective cubiste, ann\u00e9es 60 dans l’esth\u00e9tique. Elle ne dit pas grand chose ce qui t’attend \u00e0 l’\u00e9coute de l’album qui d\u00e9bute par deux d\u00e9ferlantes\u00a0: une marine, et l’autre musicale, bien plus lourde. Mantra, groupe du label breton Finisterian Dead End, donne dans le Metal progressif. Bien raccord avec son nom, le groupe utilise la r\u00e9p\u00e9tition multiple de phrases (\u00ab\u00a0Call my Name\u00a0\u00bb) et ne peut cacher son c\u00f4t\u00e9 tribal, roots.
\nL’album est \u00e9maill\u00e9 de passages qu’on pourrait facilement d\u00e9crire comme atmosph\u00e9riques (intro de \u00ab\u00a0Reborn\u00a0\u00bb par exemple) que ce soit en terme d’instruments ou de chant. Pierre Junod fait alterner la voix grunt et la voix claire. L’ambiance technival est parfois proche tant est sensible l’influence des substances diverses que le groupe cite dans sa description, mais sans jamais perdre de vue le Metal, ou m\u00eame par moments le Death.<\/p>\n

Les titres sont tout aussi \u00e9vocateurs d’une spiritualit\u00e9 indianisante, pour ne pas dire New Age :
\n\u00ab\u00a0Toward the Light\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab Elevate\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Third Mind\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Elevate\u00a0\u00bb est une bande-son instrumentale pure, parfaite pour les fumeurs de weed. Tout en volutes d\u00e9licates, alanguies, option r\u00e9verb’ maitris\u00e9e et fl\u00fbte de hippie.<\/p>\n

Puis on reprend ses esprits avec \u00ab\u00a0Tribal Warning \u00bb et sa basse rappelant Rage Against The Machine. Le morceau est rageur, en crescendo, clin d\u2019\u0153il appuy\u00e9 au Metal des ann\u00e9es 90. Un peu trop en rupture de rythmes pour mon go\u00fbt, et le passage repris en ch\u0153ur n’est pas forc\u00e9ment du meilleur effet. Mais l\u00e0 encore, on retrouve ce c\u00f4t\u00e9 organique, montant des profondeurs qui marque avec brio tout l’album. Malgr\u00e9 ses d\u00e9fauts (de chant notamment) le morceau est parfait au centre de \u00ab\u00a0Into the Light\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Puis arrive \u00ab\u00a0One\u00a0\u00bb, presque sans transition, en douceur. La voix a des \u00e9chos du regrett\u00e9 Peter Steele (\u00e9poque \u00ab\u00a0October Rust\u00a0\u00bb). Toujours sans r\u00e9elle pause, voici \u00ab\u00a0The Voice of Creation\u00a0\u00bb plus rapide, plus tortueux, marqu\u00e9 par un chant clair et presque lyrique.<\/p>\n

L’album se cl\u00f4t sur \u00ab\u00a0Third Mind\u00a0\u00bb encore plus hargneux et sinueux.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s ces 50 minutes, il semble bien qu’une voie se soit ouverte dans le subconscient de l’auditeur. Les membres du groupe sont jeunes, c’est prometteur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
