Can you tell us more about this album? What were your inspirations?

This will be our 11th studio album. I have to be honest and say it’s one of the best records Agnostic Front has done. I know it’s hard to top the classics but this release is so solid with all the elements and diverse sounds we touched on through out our career. 16 songs, 28 minutes of intense New York Hardcore! All killer and no filler. We are so proud of this record and believe in this one so much. This record musically has a raw old school approach with tons of blast beat hardcore that will bring you back to the early years of AF. But I believe it has a little bit for all of our fans. Lyrically it deals with a lot of political situations and discusses a lot of problems were facing today in the world.

– The cover of the album is very explicit, with the statue of liberty full of holes, the pyramid with the all-seeing eye, and the title. Even if we can guess it, can you tell us the message you want to transmit?

In this cover artwork we’re trying to get across everything that’s going wrong with this country. Explaining that there’s no justice it’s just us. Statue of Liberty was a sign of freedom and liberty and its slowly being taking away from us the government. We love our Country but hate the government and the people running it.

– There are many featurings in this album, and by the way, on « Never Walk Alone », we can hear famous voices, who are they?

We had a song called never walk alone and Roger came up with the idea in the studio that if we can get Freddy from Madball, Toby from H2O and Lou from Sick Of It All to sing on it. That it would bring a great dynamic to the song. It made perfect sense because the lyrics were about unity in the scene. We have a lot of respect for these guys and their bands because they keep giving back to the scene and putting out records to keep the NYHC legacy alive. We contacted all the guys and Toby was able to come down to the studio where we recorded with Paul Miner at BuzzBomb Sound Labs in Orange County California. Freddy and Lou had to do their parts at studios that they were close to were they were at the moment. It was great that all these guys took their time out to do that for us and really help create a classic new agnostic front song.

– The last song of the album is full of emotion and it moved me, reminding me of my cultur, my choices, but also the life I live through hardcore music since 2O years ! ( you’re the first band I listened to with Madball and Sick of it all) Tell us more about this song and the meaning of the texts for you.

Just like yesterday is a song that takes us through the history of the band. Talking about all the great places we played, good friends we met along the way and how much this all means to us. We talk about our honor and loyalty that has helped us get through hard times and how much this music has made us what we are today. We put this song last on the record cause we feel like it sums up what we been through as a band. It’s one of my favorites songs on the record and I’m glad to hear that it moved you the way that it did.

– In all of your albums, you talk about New-York, and so like everybody says, you do New York Hardcore music! What does this city mean for you ? Explain to us why it so inspires you that you’re so proud to live in it?

NYC is the Mecca of the world. As much as it has changed its still the great city in the world. With such diversity in all different races. It’s a melting pot and I think this creates originality with the amount of people living here. There’s so much going on here from music and art that inspired everyone all over the world. It’s the city that never sleeps. New York has alway been a trend setting place that people copy all over the world.

– Can we say that New-York is the cradle of hardcore?

Of course we can. So many bands are influenced by the NYHC sound and style. I hear a lot of metal bands that incorporate it in there music as well. NY has always had that more aggressive feel and sound that’s been copied by bands world wide. It will always be the core in hardcore music!

– Which album in your discography you like the most? Why?

I have to save my two favorite albums are « Victim In Pain » & « Something’s Gotta Give ». Those two records influenced me so much growing up. VIP is a staple NYHC record that is relentless from start to finish. I love playing those songs. There just so intense and raw. It’s everything I love this music. Somethings got to give came out around 96. It’s one of the AF records I still listen to religiously. It captured that vibe that VIP had but this record was a bit more melodic adding some OI influence that I love so much. That’s what I like about our new record is the fact that I think it’s a good mix between both of these records.

– Many western fans of Hardcoremake you sacred, and qualify you as « living legend » of Hardcore. What do you think of it?

I’m honored to hear that. We all work very hard to get where we are today. We’re humble hard working people and I don’t see anyone of us better than anyone out there. We’re all equal and we need to stick together in these horrid times were facing.

– According to you, which bands (still playing or not) made the basis of Hardocre, so that they can be called « living legends » ? why?

Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Brains, I have to say these are the top three. They were basically the blueprints bands of hard-core. They were to hardcore what The Ramones, Sex Pistols, and The Clash were to Punk Rock. They just set the standards pretty much for hard-core which was just a more aggressive style of punk rock. I still listen to these bands on a regular basis. They influenced me and played a big part in my life. Because hardcore made me who I am today.

– What’s the first word that comes to your mind:

-New-York- tremendous

– Madball- DMS

-Harcore- Punk Rock
-CBGB’s- Legendary

-Tattoos- Trendy

-Family – first

-Barack Obama-puppet

-Rudy Giuliani- Fuck

-France- Statue of Liberty

-Money-evil

-Hot Dog- tasty

– 33 ans de carrière et désormais 15 albums : c’est un parcours très long pour un groupe qui a toujours été une référence sur la scène hardcore.
