Kezaco ? Un groupe qui nous vient tout droit, comme Jinjer, de la lointaine et vaste Ukraine, et qui semble p\u00e9tri de promesses. De promesses et de r\u00e9f\u00e9rentiel, car ce 21 f\u00e9vrier 2025, Xenotrone publie son premier album studio intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Into the Void\u00a0\u00bb (\u00ab\u00a0Dans le vide\u00a0\u00bb). Intitul\u00e9 qui \u00e9tait \u00e9galement, souvenez-vous, celui d\u2019un des innombrables classiques de Black Sabbath. Pour m\u00e9moire, une grosse et lourde performance riffique basse-guitare sur fond de batterie jazzy, fermant la marche de Master of Reality, le troisi\u00e8me album de la bande \u00e0 Tony et incontestable pierre angulaire du doom metal.\u00a0Le trio slave revendique d\u2019ailleurs une influence jazz (?) Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9 en 2021 par le guitariste-chanteur Kostyantyn Roskosenko \u00e0 Dnipro, troisi\u00e8me ville en termes d\u00e9mographiques et ville-martyr depuis l\u2019Holodomor, situ\u00e9e dans le Sud-est du vaillant pays bleu et jaune. Xenotrone a sorti une d\u00e9mo en 2022, \u00ab\u00a0chaudement accueillie par la communaut\u00e9 underground\u00a0\u00bb (Dossier presse), suivie en 2023 par l\u2019EP <em>Queen of the Night<\/em>. Ces protagonistes de la \u00ab\u00a0New wave of thrash metal in Ukraine\u00a0\u00bb sautent \u00e0 pr\u00e9sent dans le grand bain, soutenus par le label Archivist Records sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans le metal extr\u00eame (Labyrinthus Stellarum, Myrholt, HELL:ON, Lava Abyss, Limbonic Art). Nos nouveaux amis nous disent jouer un \u00ab\u00a0thrash-death metal\u00a0\u00bb con\u00e7u afin de nous \u00ab\u00a0immerger dans une atmosph\u00e8re d\u2019horreur cosmique\u00a0\u00bb (Dossier presse pr\u00e9cit.). Sinon, j\u2019ai eu beau chercher, le nom \u00ab\u00a0Xenotrone\u00a0\u00bb ne semble vouloir rien dire de significatif&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cet <em>Into the Void<\/em> des ann\u00e9es 2020 est form\u00e9 par dix pistes. Il commence par un instrumental \u00e9ponyme. Les imp\u00e9trants effectuent leur bapt\u00eame du feu sur \u00ab\u00a0Evolution of Soul\u00a0\u00bb, la deuxi\u00e8me piste et premier simple. La mauvaise qualit\u00e9 de la production ne d\u00e9cr\u00e9dibilise par le propos, tout au contraire. Ce n\u2019est pas sp\u00e9cialement du thrash. La voix, le son, le rythme font davantage penser aux premiers Venom, \u00e0 du black metal premi\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9ration sur lequel on aurait superpos\u00e9 de maigrelets soli death metal. Une belle \u00e9nergie se d\u00e9gage de ces enregistrements. Deux invit\u00e9s apparaissent sur cet album : leur compatriote et multi instrumentiste Oleksii \u00ab\u00a0Orphun\u00a0\u00bb Syrota de Kiev (ex-Cold Comfort, ex-Cold Wave) sur \u00ab\u00a0Luminous Fast Blue Optical Transcient\u00a0\u00bb ; le chanteur des Floridiens death d\u2019Atheist Kelly Shaefer, qui vient apposer sa caution old school sur \u00ab\u00a0Stone Cross\u00a0\u00bb. \u00c9tats-Unis toujours, l\u2019avant-derni\u00e8re piste est une reprise de \u00ab\u00a0Territorial Pissing\u00a0\u00bb figurant sur <em>Nevermind<\/em> de Nirvana. \u00c9bouriffant. Je sugg\u00e8re aux v\u00e9ritables fans de Kurt Cobain d\u2019\u00e9couter cela. Il y a m\u00eame un petit solo death techno mal produit. L\u2019\u00e9coute d\u2019une telle performance rock\u2019n\u2019roll est presque inesp\u00e9r\u00e9e en ces temps musicaux pr\u00e9visibles et aseptis\u00e9s. Salutaire. Ce premier jet se termine sur \u00ab\u00a0Bo\u00f6tes Void\u00a0\u00bb, instrumental sur le vide du Bouvier (un supervide de 330 millions d\u2019ann\u00e9es-lumi\u00e8re de n\u00e9ant, pulv\u00e9risant ainsi le record pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment \u00e9tabli par Louis Boyard). C\u2019est de l\u2019ambient cheap. Cela justifie l\u2019adjectif \u00ab\u00a0cosmique\u00a0\u00bb mis en avant par ces nouveaux venus, et effectue en sus un rappel au titre de ce m\u00e9ritoire effort. La d\u00e9marche de Xenotrone est impr\u00e9gn\u00e9e d\u2019honn\u00eatet\u00e9, en d\u00e9pit de faiblesses techniques et technologiques b\u00e9antes.
