Volbeat a sorti son 5\u00e8me album studio un peu plus t\u00f4t cette ann\u00e9e, mais Art n’ Roll t’en parle maintenant parce qu’en ces temps de rentr\u00e9e plus ou moins difficiles, on a pens\u00e9 que tu aimerais entendre parler de bon son qui file la p\u00eache !<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Le premier titre est une intro instrumentale dans le style Desert Rock, histoire de coller au titre de l’album, Gentlemen hors-la-loi et demoiselles suspectes, ambiance western.<\/p>\n

Puis la voix de Michael Poulsen retentit, caract\u00e9ristique, aigu mais profonde. Les deux premiers titres paraitront peut-\u00eatre un peu l\u00e9gers pour les fans de m\u00e9tal, mais ils trouveront leur compte de grosses guitare avec \u00ab Dead but Rising \u00bb, \u00ab The Hangman’s Body Count \u00bb (riffs virtuoses!) et surtout \u00ab Room 24 \u00bb, en duo avec King Diamond ! L\u00e0 l’ambiance tourne \u00e0 l’horrifique, comme dans \u00ab The Nameless Ones \u00bb et ses goules. Mais \u00ab Room 24 \u00bb est beaucoup plus glauque de par le son, lourd, tr\u00e8s lourd, et les paroles qui relatent un cauchemar \u00e9veill\u00e9<\/p>\n

Puis retour \u00e0 l’ambiance western avec \u00ab Lonesome Rider \u00bb, autre duo, avec Sarah Blackwood cette fois. Difficile de ne pas penser \u00e0 Lucky Luke quand on lit ce titre, hein ?<\/p>\n

Le morceau commence tr\u00e8s bien, une sorte de ballade bien rythm\u00e9e sur l’histoire de Rita et Reaper, mais \u00e7a se g\u00e2te un peu en cours de route, dommage.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My Body est super catchy, nerveux jusqu’\u00e0 l’\u00e9pileptique et te donne envie de crier \u00ab I want more \u00bb avec Michael Poulsen ! M\u00eame sensation d’agitation avec Lola Montez, hommage \u00e0 la courtisane irlandaise qui a inspir\u00e9 le cin\u00e9aste Max Oph\u00fcls, entre autres.<\/p>\n

Et le rythme s’acc\u00e9l\u00e8re encore avec Black Bart, et puis on amorce la d\u00e9crue, avec Doc Holliday dont les premi\u00e8res notes sonnent tr\u00e8s Ugly Kid Joe, soit dit en passant.<\/p>\n

C’est sur \u00ab The Loved Ones \u00bb, une presque-ballade costaud, que se cloture l’album.<\/p>\n

Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies est h\u00e9t\u00e9roclite sans \u00eatre disparate. Volbeat est connu pour marier plusieurs styles musicaux et il le fait ici avec brio, m\u00eame si on peut noter quelques passages un peu mous du genou (le titre Cape of our Hero me laisse dubitative).<\/p>\n
