Kowalski<\/p>\n<p>Ces temps-ci, on ne peut pas dire que Netflix soit synonymes de grande qualit\u00e9, surtout que leurs politiques se basent plus sur la quantit\u00e9 et l\u2019algorithme, except\u00e9 quand ils embauchent des g\u00e9nies comme Guillermo Del Toro (<em>Pinocchio<\/em>) ou David Fincher (<em>Mindhunter<\/em>). Mais il suffit parfois de fouiller un peu, d\u2019un bon bouche-\u00e0-oreille, d\u2019une production venant d\u2019un pays qui change des USA (la Pologne en l\u2019occurrence) et d\u2019un pitch qui pique notre curiosit\u00e9 pour tomber sur une s\u00e9rie B tr\u00e8s sympathique.<\/p>\n<p>Nous suivons Marek, inspecteur de police ayant infiltr\u00e9 un monast\u00e8re pratiquant des exorcismes, pour enqu\u00eater sur une s\u00e9rie de disparitions de jeunes femmes. Plus son enqu\u00eate avance, plus se produisent des \u00e9v\u00e9nements sordides, sans compter le comportement des moines de plus en plus inqui\u00e9tants. Certes, un pitch qui n\u2019est pas d\u2019une grande originalit\u00e9 mais qui lui permet de donner un cadre froid et symbolique, ce qui est parfait pour un r\u00e9cit sur l\u2019enfer. D\u2019ailleurs, il est \u00e0 noter que son v\u00e9ritable titre en polonais est <em>Ostatnia wieczerza <\/em>(\u00ab\u00a0\u00e0 vos souhait\u00a0\u00bb), ce qui se traduit par \u00ab\u00a0La Derni\u00e8re C\u00e8ne\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0; sans spoiler, c\u2019est un titre bien plus juste, mais la magie des titres fran\u00e7ais, tout \u00e7a, tout \u00e7a\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Alors le film en lui-m\u00eame ? Son r\u00e9alisateur opte pour le contemplatif dans ce r\u00e9cit qui prend son temps, installant une ambiance pesante, une atmosph\u00e8re froide. On est en Pologne, c\u2019est rude, aust\u00e8re, le soleil semble avoir disparu, il y a des ombres silencieuses un peu partout, on ne sait pas si les moines sont en train de prier ou d\u2019\u00e9couter aux portes. Et, surtout, Kowalski sombre tr\u00e8s rarement dans la facilit\u00e9 du jumpscare (je ne me souviens que d\u2019un seul). Enfin, pour notre plus grand bonheur, le r\u00e9alisateur ne se prive pas de mettre le d\u00e9tective dans des situations bien craspect : il est forc\u00e9 d\u2019avaler des aliments douteux, sa sant\u00e9 se d\u00e9grade, il est mis face \u00e0 des situations morbides, et cetera.<\/p>\n<p>D\u2019ailleurs, on notera plusieurs changements de genre, car ce film se veut d\u2019abord un thriller avec son cot\u00e9 enqu\u00eate polici\u00e8re, dont on soup\u00e7onnera d\u2019abord des d\u00e9rives sectaires ; cependant, plus on avance dans l\u2019enqu\u00eate et plus l\u2019horreur et le surnaturel prennent le pas, nous donnant d\u2019ailleurs de fausses pistes. Tout cela est extr\u00eamement difficile \u00e0 d\u00e9tailler sans d\u00e9voiler l&rsquo;intrigue \u2013 du coup, je pr\u00e9f\u00e8re vous laisser le plaisir du visionnage.<\/p>\n<p>L\u00e0 o\u00f9 ce film risque de diviser, c\u2019est sur son final. Si on peut saluer la radicalit\u00e9 du script, on sent malheureusement un certain manque de budget, voire m\u00eame d\u2019id\u00e9es pour le mettre correctement en sc\u00e8ne. Pour faire simple\u00a0: on peut valider l\u2019id\u00e9e mais l\u2019ex\u00e9cution (et plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment un d\u00e9nouement pr\u00e9cis) est toute relative et risque de d\u00e9plaire aux plus s\u00e9v\u00e8res d\u2019entre nous. De plus, comme je le disais plus haut, le film aime prendre son temps et risque \u00e9galement de d\u00e9plaire \u00e0 ceux qui cherchent la dose d\u2019adr\u00e9naline ou qui adorent zigzaguer entre le film et leur t\u00e9l\u00e9phone portable (mais, de base, si vous faites \u00e7a, c\u2019est que vous n\u2019avez jamais aim\u00e9 le cin\u00e9ma).<\/p>\n<p><em>L\u2019ab\u00eeme de l\u2019Enfer<\/em> est donc une belle surprise venue de Pologne que l\u2019on peut saluer pour son atmosph\u00e8re froide, son intrigue, son cot\u00e9 crasseux et son envie de proposer autre chose que des jumpscares. Le tout accompagn\u00e9 d\u2019une ambiance sonore se m\u00e9langeant bien au r\u00e9cit.
