Nick Oliveri a offici\u00e9 avec Kyuss et Queens of the Stone Age entre autres. Il se produit ce soir pour la derni\u00e8re date de sa tourn\u00e9e europ\u00e9enne, Death Acoustic, au Supersonic. Je devais l\u2019interviewer avant le concert, mais il semble que les d\u00e9lices des Pays-bas, o\u00f9 il jouait la veille, l\u2019ait retenu plus que n\u00e9cessaire. Il arrivera donc pendant la premi\u00e8re partie, assur\u00e9e par Feller Buncher, trio parisien dont le batteur est aussi le frontman, enfin, si on veut, vu qu&rsquo;il est derri\u00e8re ses deux acolytes\u2026 Il assure le chant, la communication avec le public, sans oublier de cogner comme un sourd sur ses futs. Feller buncher (pour ton \u00e9ducation, ce nom est celui d\u2019un engin d\u00e9moniaque qui coupe les arbres en une poign\u00e9e de secondes) fait bien le boulot de 1<sup>\u00e8re<\/sup> partie et l\u2019ambiance monte peu \u00e0 peu. Leur musique, ainsi qu\u2019ils la d\u00e9crivent eux-m\u00eames, est un condens\u00e9 de grunge, groove-metal, hardcore et stoner. A l\u2019instar du batteur qui se d\u00e9m\u00e8ne, les guitariste et bassiste ne sont pas en reste et suent tout ce qu\u2019ils peuvent. Le guitariste se la donne fa\u00e7on guitar hero, \u00e0 l\u2019ancienne. Ses solos sont bien trippants. Le bassiste prend sa part de chant mais reste relativement en retrait.<br \/>\nPendant qu\u2019ils transpirent sur leurs instruments, Nick Oliveri se gare tranquillement devant la baie vitr\u00e9e de la salle. Et ouais. Tranquille.<\/p>\n<p>Ao\u00fbt est bien entam\u00e9, mais le Supersonic est d\u00e9j\u00e0 bien plein gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la conjonction des plan\u00e8tes\u00a0: on est vendredi, le concert est gratuit, et c\u2019est Oliveri (et oui, \u00e7a rime).<br \/>\nMais voici que s\u2019avance le 2<sup>\u00e8me<\/sup> groupe de la soir\u00e9e\u00a0! High on wheels, c\u2019est aussi un trio, et parisien aussi. Leur musique\u00a0? Plus classiquement du Stoner\/Desert Rock, avec une influence certaine de la sc\u00e8ne Palm Desert de Nick Oliveri.<br \/>\nIls montent un cran plus haut sur l\u2019\u00e9chelle de Richter. La batterie est syncop\u00e9e, martiale, elle donne une couleur originale au son du groupe. La voix n\u2019est pas assez en avant selon moi, mais \u00e7a va s\u2019arranger un peu au fil du set. Au final, j\u2019en retiens un son concoct\u00e9 aux petits oignons, avec une sauce bien \u00e9paisse qui tient au corps. Note qu\u2019ils jouent avec Hangman\u2019s Chair \u00e0 la Clef St Germain en octobre.<\/p>\n<p>Et voici le moment tant attendu, l\u2019heure de Nick Oliveri\u00a0! La balance est rapide, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu\u2019il est le seul musicien. D\u00e8s le premier morceau il pose l\u2019ambiance\u00a0: il absorbe toute l\u2019attention et charge l\u2019air en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9. L\u2019affiliation blues est assez claire, m\u00eame si Oliveri crache ses tripes comme un punk. Il flotte dans l\u2019air comme une impression de fin de r\u00e8gne malgr\u00e9 la foule plus que dense qui s\u2019\u00e9crase dans tous les coins. Il joue \u00ab\u00a0Another Love Song\u00a0\u00bb et le public reprend en ch\u0153ur avec joie. Il a beau hurler les titres, par moments l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re se teinte de concupiscence. Et d\u2019un coup, il se fige en regardant par la baie vitr\u00e9e\u00a0: quelqu\u2019un s\u2019approche un peu trop de sa voiture. Le public finit par regarder aussi. Chez Art n\u2019 Roll, on connait le nom du coupable, mais on restera muet comme des tombes\u00a0!<br \/>\nRevenons aux morceaux\u00a0: courts, intenses. \u00ab\u00a0Autopilot\u00a0\u00bb est d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 un ami mort d\u2019overdose. \u00ab\u00a0Feel good hit of the Summer\u00a0\u00bb est l\u2019occasion de faire venir le public sur sc\u00e8ne pour une reprise qu\u2019Oliveri trouve parfaite pour l\u2019acoustique. En voyant Oliveri sur sc\u00e8ne, on a l\u2019impression que Queens of the Stone Age a perdu sa sauvagerie apr\u00e8s son d\u00e9part. Il est de son c\u00f4t\u00e9 livr\u00e9 \u00e0 lui-m\u00eame, sans limite. A propos de sauvage, il reprend G.G. Allin et son Outlaw Scumfuc, et \u00e7a lui va parfaitement\u00a0!
